haaay, everyone, haaaaaaay!
Jul. 28th, 2009 10:21 pmSooooooooooo yeah. I have my review typed up and it is under the cut if you want to read it.
But, first, lemme just talk about the epicness that was tonights show in Tampa.
Here's what went down:
Adam was thrown a bedazzled bra and a thong during Slow Ride.
He was then thrown handcuffs and a red whip during - I think - the Bowie Medley. He then proceeded to whip himself and swing the handcuffs around....... ........
Kris then came out to do his set, picked up the left behind whip and said "What's this?" And he was thrown a flower. lmao
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd he did the high note in DSB [he didn't do it at my show *cries*] and I'm thinking it was his way of saying thanks for all the toys.
*iz now ded*
I NEED VIDEO OF THIS ASAP, OMFG TAMPA-IANS, GIVE IT TO ME!
So, yeah, I'm through with my brb dying for now, but yeah, after I get vids...I'm so posting them; and ya'll better watch it cause that be epic shitz right thar.
Oh and I got a free week premium subscription on dA all because there was some glitch after my old subscription died months ago and I still had the beta testing symbol next to my name. That's literally why I got a free sub - cause they messed up, apparently. lulllzzz
I just wanted to say that, so, without further adieu; look under the cut for the review. [omgomgomg i rhymmeeddd]
My dad and I drove to Graceland but didnt go in, just went past it. Of course I was on the look out for the Idols but I didnt see them.
So I arrived at the venue around 1:00 with my dad because I had seen the Tweet the night before that they were not going to be able to come out after the show. And let me just say right here and now that that really upset me. Here we are, driving over 600 miles away, and the /one/ show I had to choose to go to is the one they can't meet us at. How lovely is that?
Anyways, we got there early because I was hoping Adam would come out before the show since he couldnt come out after.
There were already people lined up at the barricades so I kinda scooted over there behind some women in wheelchairs [perfect place to be at a barricade, trust me, you can just hand the stuff right over their heads for them to sign. xD] and waited. We had been waiting for a while when I thought that it seemed rather odd they were coming out here [the side of the building] instead of by the buses, which was way on the other side in a barricaded parking lot.
Regardless, we waited till about 2:30 before people started coming. I was standing next to an older couple and the man was so hilarious and snarky and we kept talking about how we wanted the janitor's autograph and just all this other stuff that I was pretty much dying laughing at. I also talked to this man [early twenties, I'd say] who said he wanted to marry Adam. ;]
Out first came Michael and Matt and everyone screamed [I was right by the doors so I was first to see them and everyone around the other side was trying to look over to see what we were screaming at] as they started signing. I put my tour program over the ladies head [ after asking permission of course] and had both Michael and Matt sign it. [I had /just/ gotten it too. I'd told my dad to go run after the lady who was selling them and he came back just in time for me to hand it over.] Someone gave Matt and Michael beaded necklaces which they put on. xD
Danny came out as well but at the other end so he made it to our side last. I do have to say one thing though, I still am not really a fan, even though I got his autograph. haha. Considering I heard a fan asking if he could kiss her cheek - and he seemed kinda grossed out - and he said no but said she could kiss his, which she did.
People were starting to yell "Adam! Adam! Adam!" at that point.
Matt went in a bit later, as well as Danny. Michael stayed out for at least forty five minutes. The security guard /said/ more of them were coming out, but I think that was just to placate us because he knew we would riot if he said no. When the security guards started going in, we knew that Adam wasn't coming and I'll admit to being very upset, as I knew that this was my only chance to see him.
The guy I'd talked about earlier with his wife was yelling at the security guards, saying "Will you sign Adam? Sign Adam's name for me! No one will know!" lmao. He was so great.
[I did take pics of the three guys who came out but I dunno what to do with them so they'll prolly just stay and collect dust in my folder, haha]
After they removed the barricades I went over to sit on a little brick wall and people were looking at a large book a girl had made for Adam. It was huuuuge and so, so amazing. It had every performance he had done with his head cut out of a picture and pasted above clothes the girl had made out of fabric to match his outfit. It was at least twenty pages of pure awesomeness. I got one picture of a page - unfortunately not one of the performance pages - and a pic of the girl who made it. I can post those later if you want.
Then it was just a matter of waiting. I was sitting down by the side for at least three hours before the guard came out and told my dad and I that they would let us in that door we were standing by, as well, so we got up and waited close to it. No way were we /not/ going to be first in after all that time we waited. haha.
More people started showing up then, out of no where, I heard a few squeals and people talking and looked over to see Katy [Kris' wife, duhhhh]. She is absolutely /so so/ adorable in person and so small! She took a picture with someone and was holding what looked like a Fed Ex envelope and was knocking on the door, trying to get the security guards to let her in. She kept walking back and forth, looking in, and we all just stared at her. haha. She took a pic with someone else and talked a bit but I didnt hear what she said. I got a pic of the side of her though and the back. lmao It was funny cause not everyone knew who she was so they were wondering why we were all excited. xD My dad didnt know so I had to tell him and he's like /"that's Kris's wife?!?!"/ haha. She eventually got let in and I watched her walk backstage and went 'lucky bench' before going back to being bored.
We'd thought we saw Kris in the lobby for a second but then I thought 'If thats kris, then why did Katy just walk right past him?" So, it obviously wasn't.
then finaaallly they let us in at six and we saw all the stands of merch but I'd already gotten what I wanted so we went up, up , upppp to our balcony seats and I was literally like "Wow. Wow. omg. wow." when I saw how big it was. Having nosebleeds isn't /as/ bad as some think it is. The cameras make it look so much further away than it really is. I was feeling a bit of vertigo though cause it's like a straight shot down at a diagonal angle. o.0
One thing I have to complain about is how repetetively they played the commercials. Over and over and over again. Finally, a little after seven, they started playing the Ford commercials and there were screams for Adam and Kris, both. [The place was pretty packed by then.]
I loooooove the lighting they did during the intro bit, that was cool.
And now for the show!
Michael: He is actually a very good singer, I was impressed, but he could have a bit more stage presence. He just wasn't that entertaining to watch. That, and I'm upset by his comments on Twitter about us not being a good crowd then saying later that others were telling the same thing. The fact that I don't even like Michael and /I/ screamed for him, then he goes onto say /that/ like an unsecure numbskull just makes me angry.
Megan: I am very, very tired of everyone saying she is terrible, as she is not. She is quite wonderful really. And so, so gorgeous. I was watching her body move on the stage then looking at her face on the screen. [only bad thing about being so far away is that you feel kind of disconnected from the performer and when you watch them on stage, you can't really see them singing, so it's weird.] People just don't seem to understand she has a very unique sounding voice and she /is/ a little bit quirky. I loved her though and I have a newfound respect for her.
Scott: I loooooved A Thousand Miles and his little blind joke - the hand shake known around the woorrrllld - and he was quite good, as well. Better than I was expecting.
Lil: I knew that Memphis was her home town so I screamed for her very loudly. But obviously it wasn't good enough. *sigh* Anyways, she is a good singer and very into the wigs. haha I think I liked her whole Single Ladies song the best.
Anoop: Eh, I will admit I didnt watch him much. I never really cared for him all that well, but I did enjoy his My Prerogative. I didn't really like his trying to copy Adam's dance moves though. And let me just say his intro is absolutely cheesetastic with his head floating in the clouds with sparkly glitter sounding music. [and here I thought Adam was the gay one *cough*]
Matt: My dad was very, very impressed with Matt and loved his first song. I thought he did great, too. I think he is an amazing pianist. Would I ever see his solo tour? No, but I do think he is a good singer.
Group Song: It was good, a bit all over the place at times but I was entertained. [Michael then said he was happy with the response they got from that song on Twitter. Well, good for him. rolleyes.gif ]
Intermission seemed really short to me; they played that Disney World commercial with Kris and every time I always laughed. It was just too cute. xD Then they showed a comm for the AI attraction at DW and when Adam started talking his bit everyone screamed. I was amused they let him have the longest dialogue xD Then they replayed those same old Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and David Cook music vids. *sigh* haha. [And I heard Carrie was in the audience, too, wonder what she thought of having to watch herself fifty million times]
And noooow for the best half:
Allison: Man that girl has got /energy!/ She was just flying around the stage, belting out her songs. She is fantastic, fantastic and I looooved Barracuda. I was dancing through the whole thing. When she introduced the three other guys, they all seemed to get the same response with maybe Adam and Kris getting a bit more screams. I just love her, that's all I can say. She's amazing.
Danny: Can I just skip this? whistling.gif I thought he was a good singer but when he ripped off his jacket and did a little mock sexy dance I kind of gagged a little. His preaching didn't seem as long as some nights but it was still toooo loonng. I was literally bouncing up and down in my seat near the end of his last song, waiting for Adam and I could tell the excitement in the room was rising.
ADAM!: Okay, let me just say this about when he performs: You tell yourself to savor the moment, take in /everything/ because you know it's going to go by quick. Well, you can't savor it enough. I was trying to watch him the entire time and I still ended up forgetting some things and not hearing a few words he said because it was just /too much/ to take in. When he left I still felt unsatisfied and that he did /not/ get enough time. I cannot stress enough that it goes by /too quick/ so do not take your eyes off that stage while he is on.
They let everything pause right after Danny leaves, building up the suspense, then his intro starts and the whole forum is on fire, screaming and yelling at the top of their lungs. I know I was. xD Then, WLL starts and he walks out and it's just...wow. I can't even describe what its like to hear him live. It's no surprises, really. He sounds just as good, if not better, than any of the vids you've seen on Youtube. It was hard to choose whether I wanted to watch the screen and his face [i was so happy to see right when he walked out that he had Elvis-hair xD] or his body. haha So as you all know, he sang 'Womaaaaaaaaaaaan' which made me scream as soon as he started it and did a little mic touching and straddling and just aahewlrjwler. And he did sing 'i'm gonna give you every inch of my love' [i didn't even know that he hadn't been singing it the past few times]. He also did that 'shake it, shake it baby' or something to that extent. He did some crazy high notes in it that drove us all wild.
He then said "Woo. I love it hear, it's loud." And then introduced Starlight. I now understand what people say when they speak of his voice having a more 'feminine quality' live and it really does, and you can really hear it in that song. I think this was one of the better Starlight versions he's done as he actually held that 'hold you IN my arms' part. He also walked around during it which made me gasp cause I know he's never done that before. He just kind of walked around the edge of the stage and pointed at all the people in the first row.
Mad World, I will never be tired of it. So much fog and prettiness. I love how they show him all four screens at that point. It was so beautiful, so haunting. I love when he stood up from the chair and sang louder like on the show. It was only minutely ruined for me by the pre-adolescent girls next to me chatting the whole time. blarg.gif
He then thanked us all for voting because without them he would not be here and introduced Allison as his 'friend' this time. Not sure why. Slow Ride was HAAAAAAAAAAAWTT, omg. They did some dancing back to back and got right in each other's faces at some points. He hit crazy notes in this song as well. They hugged at the very end which made me go awwwwwwwwwwwww like the girl I am. tongue.gif
There was a brief pause while they get ready for Life on Mars when I almost wanted to cry cause I realised it was his last song, but luckily he started just then, so the waterworks didn't have time to start falling. xD Life on Mars was /gorgeous/ omg, and I love the red planet in the background on the screen. Whole thing was just amazing.
As soon as he ripped off his jacket, the screams were deafening and he was strutting towards the center stage. At this point, I wasn't watching the screens, I was watching HIM, so I could see all the sexy dancing. And boy was it sexy. I recognized a lot of the moves from YT but there were some that seemed new. All that hip swivelling. Whewwwwwwwwww! Is all I can say.
Let's Dance was great, he told us all to stand up and move so I and the girls next to me did for like 5 seconds then sat back down and I danced in my chair. He didnt hit that high note at the end but it was still amazing.
And in no way shape or form was his voice 'hoarse' or did he seem tired. It was all very, very fantastic.
Being as high up as I was I was able to see him get off the lift at the bottom and I giggled. haha. I hated seeing him go, and I felt so disappointed cause it went so FAST, but I wanted to see Kris too, so I could live.
Kris: I love love loooooved Heartless, omg, hearing it live, just omg. I actually really liked his new song, I think he did it great. He did a few screams during Bright Lights and Hey Jude that shocked me - I didn't know he had it in him. haha I was like "Did that come out of /him?/"
People who say he has /no/ talent, to me, are deaf, because he does. Is it in as great of magnitude or shiny awesomeness as Adam's is? No, but Kris /is/ talented.
Then they all came out at the end of Hey Jude and sang the whole nanana naaaaaaaa's before Kris and Adam left.
Dont Stop Believin: Ommmmmggg I'm just going to skip right to the part when Kris and Adam come on cause that's when it's great [ i loved the whole thing but that was the best part ]. They both did that little chicken dance down and Adam did this little shake, wiggle thing with his arms that was so cute. I didn't really notice any more dancing like that but it was all so great that I didn't know where to look. Adam did not do the high note at the end, but he did hold, what seemed to me was, a higher note - he just didn't take it up an octave. Unlike how it is after most shows, and Adam walks straight off, he walked over to the other Idols and they all did a little group dance/wiggle/shake thing before walking off. I don't even know how to describe it. haha
I knew they weren't going to be outside afterwards so we just left. I probably could have waited to see them get on the buses but it wasn't the greatest side of town and I didn't want to stick around.
I am very upset I didn't get to meet him or even see him up close but there's always his solo tour, I guess, hopefully. *sigh*
The show in it's entirety was great and I would definitely recommend seeing it. I had a lot of fun during most of the sets. And it just proved to me how great Adam's solo tour is going to be!
Wow. So, this is very, very long and I'm sorry - I warned ya! - but I hope you enjoyed reading it. Sorry if it reads a bit manic or weird, I typed it up kinda fast and didn't go back through to proof read it. I'm very sure I missed out a ton of details but this was two days ago already and my memory is terrible so, tongue.gif I'm sorry haha.
But if you have any questions, go ahead and ask because I'll do my best to answer. And I'm sure my memory will spark in about five minutes and I'll remember a whole bunch of details I'd missed out on. haha
I will try to post that pic of the girl with the Adam book and get my vids on YT as soon as I can, though it might take a while. I'm still pretty worn out.
Edit We're now all trending #adamlambertcockgod on Twitter. lmao. First it was rockgod, then it got changed to cockgod. And someone got dared to Tweet it to all the Idols xDDD Can't wait to see if anyone comments on it.
But, first, lemme just talk about the epicness that was tonights show in Tampa.
